LIBRARY

The library's main objective is to provide documentary support, both for our own technical staff and for researchers, students and the general public interested in ethnography.

Access to its funds is free, within the Museum's regular opening hours, and it consists of a diverse collection on ethnography, anthropology, history and archaeology, with special relevance given to Asturian items.

Currently, the library has a collection of over 1,000 books, some periodicals and some audiovisual material. Deposits and donations are accepted.

If you wish to make a suggestion, please send us an e-mail.

RULES OF ACCESS AND USE

  • To access the library, visitors must provide an ID card, passport or equivalent official document. Visitors are allowed access with books, notes and, where applicable, laptops, scanners and cameras.
  • Researchers and students will have preferential access.
  • Coats, umbrellas and other objects must be left at reception, located at the entrance of the Museum.
  • All books, periodicals and other library materials are public property. Take care when using them and do not damage them. The library would appreciate being notified of any defect found in the state of the documents.
  • Most of the items are directly accessible in the library. If any item were not present, you may request it from the museum personnel. The library items may only be consulted inside the library and only blank sheets of paper, writing material and, if relevant, a laptop may be used.
  • The library does not loan items to individuals.
  • Readers may make photocopies and take photographs within the limits of Copyright Law.
  • Do not take more books than you need to use. If you accumulate books you may be hindering other readers. Be supportive.
  • Readers are responsible for the material they use.
  • The books, once used, must be placed on the table provided. This will make it easier to put them back in their places. Only Museum staff may put the books back on the shelves. Please co-operate with us; it will be for the benefit of all. A misplaced book is a lost book.
  • Food and drink are not allowed in the library and visitors must remain silent. Sound devices on laptops and mobile phones must be muted.
